Let’s look closely at verse 4 of this awesome Psalm. ‘Even when I walk through the dark valley of death’, do you notice it says the words ‘even when.’ It doesn’t say even if, the word says WHEN. In other words you will at some point go through this dark valley. Maybe you have already, or perhaps you are in the middle of the dark valley. Well take heart beloved as the next part of the verse is so uplifting. It says ‘I will not be afraid..’ What a declaration. I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. Do you realise that it is a sin to worry. In 1st Peter and the 5th chapter from verse 7 it says: ‘Give all your worries and cares to God for He cares for you. Again in 1st John 4 and the 18th verse it says: There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. Do you see where I am going with this? The psalmist is very clear here. He is assuming that you have given your fears and worries to Him.
In the second part of the same verse it says: ‘For you are close beside me. Your Rod and staff protect and comfort me..’ Know this beloved, the Bible also says that the Lord Jesus has declared, ‘I will never leave you or forsake you..’ (Hebrews 13:5). It is crystal clear to me that the Lord is saying to us today, that He is here for the long haul. We need to look to Him in ALL things.
A Prayer: Lord, I am so sorry if I continue to worry. Please forgive me. I ask you in Jesus name to allow your Holy Spirit to cleanse me from worry. Let me know Father that when I am in the dark valley, You are there also. In Jesus name I pray.
