How many times have you prayed and felt as if the Lord is not listening to you? You have thought that perhaps He was working on another mission. He was out! Not answering you. I have felt this many times in my life. I have thought, ’Lord why are You not hearing me?’. Well beloved I am certain of one thing. He always answers, but sadly not the way we want sometimes. ‘Father, I claim this house in Jesus’ name.’ That has been the cry of so many people who believe the ‘name it and claim it’ doctrine. There is no evidence for this in the Bible so I don’t believe this at all. Why then do we not get an answer? Why does God seem so far away?
The Lord is not here to shop for our shopping list. He is Almighty God. He is awesome and mighty. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Yet having said that He is our Father. When I was young I would ask my earthly father for things. Sometimes he said yes, sometimes the answer was no. What I can say with clarity is that he always answered me. To answer the question why does He seem so far away? It is not Him that has moved beloved, it is you. The Lord has gone nowhere. He is still beside you, watching over you, loving you, caring for you. It is you who have, for some reason, moved away from Him. Why then aren’t we hearing from the Lord? There are a number of reasons for that. Perhaps He has asked you to do something and you haven’t done it. It could be that you are being disobedient in some way. The way I have tried to find out in my own life is to simply ask Him. Why Lord have you distanced yourself from me? Why won’t You answer me? I have found to my amazement that usually what I have been praying about comes about in His time, in His perfect plan.
Here is an idea. When you pray why not say in this prayer, “if it be Your will Lord.” That means that you will be praying in a way that lines up with His perfect will. What do you think?
The rest of that verse says I prayed to the Lord, He answered me freeing me from all my fears. When we line up with the perfect will of God, all our fears and concerns go. Why? Because we are living in the will of the Lord. We need to be in that place always.
A prayer: Father, Help us to pray in Your perfect will. Help us to not use you as a shopping list. Father Let us place You, in the place you are supposed to be and that is above everything. In Jesus’ name I ask. Amen.
